This Privacy Policy explains how TailoredTaste ("we," "our," "the app") collects, uses, and protects your information.
Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address and password. Passwords are handled entirely by our authentication provider (Supabase) and are never stored or visible to us in plain text.
Meals you log. Dish names, restaurant names and addresses, your 1–10 ratings, any notes you write, and photos you choose to attach.
Taste notes. Any free-text notes you write about your taste (e.g., favorite cuisines, spice tolerance), which we use to personalize recommendations. These notes are used for flavor and style preference only — the app does not screen menus for allergens or ingredients, and you should always confirm ingredient and allergen information directly with the restaurant.
Menu scan photos. When you scan a menu, the photo is sent securely to our servers and passed to Google's Gemini AI service for one-time analysis to generate dish recommendations. By default, we do not keep menu scan photos after that analysis — they're discarded once the request completes. If you choose to tap "Save this menu for later," we store that photo, tagged to the restaurant you specify, so you can revisit it (e.g., under History → Saved Menus) to log meals from it after the fact. Saved menu photos are kept until you delete them individually or delete your account. (This is separate from meal photos you deliberately attach to a logged meal, which are stored as described above.)
Crash and error data. We use Sentry to automatically collect crash reports and error details when something goes wrong, to help us fix bugs. This can include device/OS information and a record of recent screens or actions leading up to an error. It does not include your password or payment information.
Restaurant search. When you search for a restaurant, your search text is sent to Google Places to return matching results. We do not access your device's location.
We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising or third-party marketing.
We share information only with the service providers that help us run the app, and only as needed for them to provide that service:

We retain your information for as long as your account is active. Saved menu photos are kept until you delete them individually or delete your account. If you delete your account, your profile, meals, photos, and saved menus are permanently deleted from our systems right away.
TailoredTaste is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
